About
This Bavarian lager strain hails from its namesake monastery, where it was cultivated over centuries to produce a creamy mouthfeel in malty lagers. Its low level of sulphur and ester production makes it easy to work with and reharvest. Works beautifully in helles, bock, dunkel and festbier styles.
NOTE: Spot recommends at least a double-sized (1 Million Cells) pitch for lagers and triple-sized pitch for Andechs (1.5 Million Cells). Please consult our pitch rate calculator for determining the ideal pitch size for your gravity and volume.
